The signing ceremony for a waste salt recycling project was held in Dalad Economic Development Zone in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region on Feb 15.

The total investment in the project is 2.1 billion yuan ($313.43 million), and construction will last 18 months.

The main products of the project will be caustic soda, high-quality chlorine, hydrogen, and steam by-product.

It will be able to generate 300,000 metric tons of caustic soda, 240,000 tons of high-quality chlorine, 6,000 tons of hydrogen, and 350,000 tons of steam by-product annually.

When it is fully completed and put into production, it will be able to realize an annual output value of 3.2 billion yuan and an annual tax payment of 280 million yuan, and will be able to meet the existing industrial waste salt treatment needs in the industrial park.

Its products will be of use to the zone's producers of pesticides and pharmaceutical intermediates.
