Ejin Horoo Banner in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region is making every effort to develop its pastoral complex economy.

The pastoral complex is a new model for comprehensive agricultural development. It integrates modern agriculture, leisure, tourism and community.

The new model is playing an essential role in combining high-quality economic development with ecological protection.

The pastoral complex developed by the Mengtai Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Company is a key example of Eijin Horoo Banner's new economic development model.

Zhang Shulin, deputy general manager of the company, stated that the company's pastoral complex mainly includes the ecological breeding and slaughtering of black donkeys, as well as the deep processing projects that follow. This model also includes high-quality forage planting projects, and green vegetable planting and picking projects.

It will also feature a whiskey distillery project that integrates brewing, sightseeing and teaching in a Scottish style setting along a bar street, Zhang added.

The total investment of the company's pastoral complex is 3.54 billion yuan ($528.36 million).

When the complex starts operation, it is estimated to receive 500,000 tourist visits a year, sell 2 million kilograms of agricultural products annually, and realize an annual output value of 150 million yuan.

The complex can provide stable jobs for nearly a thousand farmers and herdsmen in the surrounding area, and will play an essential role in promoting the transformation of industrial structures. It will also drive the development of rural agricultural tourism and create more employment opportunities for farmers.
