Du Huiliang, a deputy to the first session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) and mayor of Ordos, stated that Ordos will embark on a path towards low-carbon and high–quality development.

In the past year, despite the influence of many unfavorable factors, such as the epidemic, Ordos has still achieved excellent development results.

The city's GDP rose from 470 billion yuan ($67.63 billion) in 2021 to 560 billion yuan in 2022, climbing eight places in the GDP ranking of domestic cities.

Du introduced that in 2023, Ordos aims to achieve green and low-carbon transformation, a total economic volume of no less than 600 billion yuan, and the simultaneous adjustment of its energy structure and the industrial structure.

To achieve such goals, the city will focus on building industrial clusters for wind power, solar power, hydrogen energy, energy storage and vehicles, and equipment manufacturing bases.

It will build a modern coal chemical industry cluster, promote the clean and efficient utilization of coal and energy, focus on energy technology reform, and advance in new energy technology innovation.
