The city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has set its GDP growth target for 2023 at around 6.5 percent, with its total economic output to exceed 600 billion yuan ($86.33 billion).

To achieve the goal, Ordos plans to expand domestic demand, focusing on expanding investment, promoting consumption, strengthening industry, and stimulating the vitality of market players.

In 2023, Ordos plans to implement 472 key projects and invest more than 120 billion yuan.

To boost consumption, Ordos will issue consumption coupons to aid in the recovery of dining, accommodation, wholesale, retail, culture, tourism and entertainment, as well as boost consumption of new energy vehicles, smart home appliances and furniture.

In addition to improving the energy supply capacity of coal, electricity and gas, Ordos will make all-out efforts in new energy and manufacturing.

Ordos plans to increase its new energy installed capacity to 12 million kilowatts this year and put about 50 manufacturing projects into operation. These are estimated to increase the industrial added value above the designated size by more than 8 percent, and increase the city's total industrial output value to 850 billion yuan.

Additionally, Ordos will implement a strategic emerging industry cultivation project to promote the rapid development of emerging industries such as high-end equipment, biomedicine, optoelectronic manufacturing, and digital economy.
