The International Conference on the 100th Anniversary of Discovery of the "Ordos Tooth" will take place from Aug 14 to 16 in the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, with Uxin Banner as the main venue.
A press conference was held in the same city on Aug 9 to update attendees and how preparations for the three-day event have been progressing.
Over 160 experts and scholars from China and abroad have been invited to attend, and the preparatory work has almost been completed, officials said.
Shini, head of Uxin Banner, said the conference will feature five discussions on different themes, including Salawusu and Chinese paleoanthropology, the origin and evolution of the "Ordos Tooth" and East Asian Homo sapiens, as well as the technology, culture, and survival patterns of Eurasian Paleolithic humans.
Over 30 experts will give speeches, with the ultimate goal of achieving research consensus and producing a series of theoretical achievements.
During the opening ceremony, the key research base of the National Cultural Heritage Administration, the Salawusu archaeological workstation of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the archaeological base of the Minzu University of China will be granted nameplates.
The ceremony will also include the unveiling of the Salawusu Site Museum.
During the conference, there will be field visits to the Salawusu Site Museum, the archaeological protection pavilion, and the archaeological experience pavilion, along with exhibitions and performances related to the theme of "Ordos Tooth".
Ordos has a long history and is one of the birthplaces of human civilization. As early as 50,000 years ago, the ancient people collectively referred to as "Ordos Tooth" thrived and multiplied on this vast land, now regarded as the birthplace of the world-famous "Ordos Tooth Culture".
