The groundbreaking ceremony for the 20,000-kilowatt distributed wind power project of China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) in Otog Banner, Ordos city, was held on Dec 8.
The project has a total installed capacity of 20 MW, with an investment of 114 million yuan ($15.62 million).
The company plans to build one wind power plant, install four wind turbine units, and construct one new switch station.
After it goes into operation, its annual power generation is expected to reach 50 million kWh or more, and it is expected to achieve full-capacity grid-connected power generation by the end of June 2024.
It will provide 54,584.72 MWh of green power for Otog Banner every year, equivalent to saving 16,500 metric tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 45,200 tons.
This is another important resource to boost the clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient energy supply system in the area, offering significant economic, social, and environmental benefits.
