At a new energy investment promotion conference between Ordos and Changzhou on Dec 11, the city of Ordos signed seven new energy cooperation projects with a total agreement amount of 19.76 billion yuan ($2.71 billion).

The projects cover areas such as photovoltaics, energy storage, and hydrogen energy.

Among the parties to the signed agreements, Trina Solar Co is the world's largest supplier of photovoltaic modules and a leading provider of integrated solar energy solutions.

Its main business encompasses photovoltaic products, photovoltaic systems, and smart energy.

Wu Xindi, executive director and general manager of Changzhou Guiyang New Energy Materials Co, said, "Ordos excels in infrastructure development, making it the most competitive and advantageous location."

"We plan to conduct research and development here, and establish pilot projects and production facilities in Ordos, in order to leverage resources from both sides and create more economic benefits," Wu added.

In recent years, Changzhou city in East China's Jiangsu province has focused on building itself as the capital of new energy in China, constructing a closed-loop industrial system encompassing power generation, energy storage, transmission, and application.

The output value of its new energy sector has exceeded 500 billion yuan. Changzhou ranks fourth on the Hurun list of China New Energy Cities 2023 and has maintained the top spot in the new energy investment attractiveness index.

Ordos serves as the core area for the development of a key national energy base in Inner Mongolia. The development of new energy in Ordos has promoted the adjustment of its energy structure and facilitated the green and low-carbon transformation of industries.
