Added value from Ordos' private sector accounts for 60% of GDP

In 2023, the total added value of the private sector in Ordos city reached 348.09 billion yuan ($47.68 billion), accounting for nearly 60 percent of the city's GDP.
This marks a substantial increase of 8.3 percent compared to the previous year.
The city is home to 467 private industrial enterprises above a designated size, constituting 76.6 percent of all industrial enterprises above a designated size in Ordos.
The added value from private industrial enterprises above a designated size saw a year-on-year growth of 6.5 percent in 2023, contributing to 50.8 percent of the total added value of the city's industrial enterprises above a designated size.
Private sector investments across the city surged by 31.1 percent compared to the previous year, representing 54.1 percent of the city's total fixed asset investments.
Notably, investments in private manufacturing industries increased by an impressive 133.2 percent, while private industrial investments grew by 55.6 percent, collectively constituting 50.9 percent of all industrial investments.
The city's private sector also made significant strides in the retail sector, with a total retail sales volume of 62.19 billion yuan, marking an 11.3 percent increase from the previous year. It also accounts for 92.6 percent of the city's total retail sales.
In the realm of services, the total number of private enterprises above a designated size in the city reached 213 last year, representing 76.6 percent of all service enterprises above a designated size.
These enterprises achieved a total operating income of 31.07 billion yuan in 2023, exhibiting a 9.3 percent year-on-year growth and contributing to 55.0 percent of the total operating income from service enterprises above a designated size.
