3 Ordos counties make China's top 100 list

The 2024 China's Top 100 Counties List was unveiled on May 6, highlighting Juungar Banner, Ejin Horoo Banner, and Uxin Banner from Ordos city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Juungar Banner and Ejin Horoo Banner have consistently secured positions on this list in previous years.

In 2023, Juungar Banner recorded a GDP of 140.03 billion yuan ($19.18 billion) with a growth rate of 9.7 percent, ranking 29th in the top 100 counties in terms of GDP.

Ejin Horoo Banner achieved a GDP of 122.09 billion yuan with a growth rate of 3.5 percent, placing 41st on the GDP list.

Regarding general public budget revenue, Juungar Banner ranked 7th with a budget totaling 17.33 billion yuan. In the same bracket, Ejin Horoo Banner ranked 9th with 15.42 billion yuan, and Uxin Banner ranked 86th with 5.09 billion yuan.

In 2023, Juungar Banner commenced construction on 69 key projects, investing nearly 30 billion yuan. It also successfully launched the nation's first 10,000-metric-ton new energy hydrogen production project.

Throughout the year, the banner sold 365 million tons of raw coal and generated 48 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, ensuring energy supply for 25 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.

Meanwhile, Ejin Horoo Banner produced and sold 203 million tons of coal in 2023, with its new energy electricity generation reaching 1.37 billion kWh, marking a 104 percent increase from the previous year.

The banner also implemented 22 major projects that each had an investment exceeding 1 billion yuan throughout the year.

Additionally, as a newly ranked county in the top 100 nationwide, Uxin Banner achieved a regional GDP of 11.38 billion yuan in the first quarter of this year, witnessing a remarkable 289.9 percent year-on-year growth in fixed asset investment and securing the top spot in Ordos city.
