On the morning of June 26, the grid-connection ceremony for the 4-gigawatt new energy base project in the coal mining subsidence area of Ordos city in Inner Mongolia autonomous region was held in the city's Otog Front Banner.

Selected in June 2022 as part of the second batch of national large-scale wind and photovoltaic energy bases, the 4GW project covers a total area of 132,000 mu (8,800 hectares) with an estimated total investment of around 20 billion yuan ($2.74 billion).

The project focuses on utilizing coal mining subsidence areas and areas awaiting mining, primarily leveraging 8 million kW of thermal power units for peak load regulation and building a 4 million-kW photovoltaic power generation project.

The project's successful grid connection is a significant milestone, symbolizing a leap from engineering construction to power generation commencement for this large-scale project.
