Ordos reviews development achievements and sets goals for 2025

The 4th session of the 5th Ordos People's Congress convened on Jan 20, during which the city's achievements in economic and social development in 2024 were reviewed and development goals for 2025 were set.
The agenda included reviewing the 2024 Ordos Economic and Social Development Plan and its execution, as well as the draft of the 2025 plan. The session also examined reports on the execution of the 2024 budget and the draft of the 2025 budget.
Acting mayor Yu Haiyu presented the government work report. He highlighted Ordos' economic achievements in 2024, citing a record-breaking economy, significant results from the "Six Projects" initiative, the acceleration of industrial transformation, advancements in technological innovation, an improved ecological environment, increased efforts to reform and opening-up, progress in rural vitalization, and increased public welfare. He noted that the city successfully met its annual goals and set the stage for high-quality development.
Looking ahead to 2025, the final year of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), Yu outlined the expected targets for economic and social development: 6 percent GDP growth, 6.5 percent growth in the added value of industries above designated size, over 10 percent growth in fixed asset investment, around 2 percent growth in general public budget income, over 5 percent growth in retail sales of consumer goods, the creation of over 22,000 urban jobs, and stable inflation.
He also emphasized the importance of achieving the energy consumption reduction target set for the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
Yu further outlined 10 key areas of focus to achieve these goals: expanding effective investment, stimulating consumption potential through supply-demand coordination, advancing new industrialization, strengthening innovation-driven development, promoting rural vitalization through industrial leadership, accelerating the construction of new urban areas, building a beautiful and livable city, deepening reform and opening-up, ensuring improvements in public welfare, and balancing development with security.
