Multiple regions in Ordos launched large-scale desertification control initiatives to combat sand encroachment on March 3.
At the Inner Mongolia-Ningxia joint sand control project site of the Mu Us Sandy Land, the roar of machinery and the sight of busy workers signaled the beginning of an eco-defensive battle led by technology. A fleet of transport drones hovered above, marking the official launch of this high-tech environmental protection initiative.
The area plays a crucial environmental role, serving as both a frontline defense against desertification and a key regional ecological shield. Over the years, four neighboring provinces and autonomous regions have collaborated on large-scale afforestation projects, employing methods such as tree planting, grass seeding, and sand enclosure to gradually curb desertification.
Meanwhile, Ordos has also set its sights on the Yellow River "Ji-shaped" area's ecological restoration campaign.
At the planting sites, more than 50 advanced intelligent machines, including smart tree-planting robots, automated sand barriers, precision pruning devices, and large-scale drones for afforestation and plant protection, were deployed in an orderly manner.
The use of modern technology enables a fully automated and intelligent approach to sand control, enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of ecological restoration efforts.
