On May 10, Ordos city hosted a policy briefing as part of its Government Lecture Series. Key officials from the Ordos State-owned assets supervision and administration commission (Ordos SASAC), Ordos market regulation bureau, and Ordos science and technology bureau explained new policies and initiatives across various sectors.

Chen Dehua, director of the Ordos SASAC, outlined the city's deepening State-owned enterprise reform.

Through professional realignment, Ordos has integrated quality resources in energy, transportation, and agriculture, forming a clear, focused industrial structure. Ten major industries – from traditional and renewable energy to digital economy and modern finance – now operate in a coordinated, efficient manner.

Investment is tightly managed, with restrictions on non-core and low-efficiency projects. Enterprises are limited to three core businesses and two secondary areas to maintain strategic focus.

Han Yuguang, director of the Ordos market regulation bureau, highlighted upcoming efforts to strengthen food safety through a full-chain regulatory framework. New measures will support trademark development, brand value enhancement, and patent commercialization. The city aims to foster closer collaboration between research institutions and businesses to fast-track high-value patents.

Bian Dong, director of the Ordos science and technology bureau, presented a package of incentives to accelerate scientific innovation.

Ordos will proactively support national and regional laboratories, offering up to 500 million yuan ($68.49 million) for major platforms developed with top universities. Key research projects can receive up to 20 million yuan, with additional funding for R&D, newly certified tech enterprises, and innovation centers – up to 500,000 yuan in R&D subsidies and 500 million yuan in institutional support.

With these targeted efforts, Ordos continues strengthening its business environment and driving high-quality, innovation-led growth.
