Ordos' Kangbashi district is accelerating the deployment of intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs) by expanding cutting-edge "vehicle-road-cloud integration" applications across various sectors. These efforts are positioning Kangbashi as a pioneer in autonomous driving technologies.

The district has completed development of Ordos' central "One Cloud" control platform, along with Phase I and II of Kangbashi's own project and a dedicated logistics platform in Otog Banner.

By deploying 2,518 roadside devices –  including LiDARs, MEC nodes, and RSUs –  Kangbashi has built 251 smart intersections, forming a district-wide "neural network" for traffic. This infrastructure enables seamless data fusion among vehicles, roads and the cloud, improving safety, efficiency and urban management.

Kangbashi is also developing scenario-specific applications across commercial logistics, tourism, and public services. Key achievements include the establishment of world-leading autonomous logistics convoys, driverless mining vehicle applications, and smart governance models using autonomous vehicles.

The district has formed a comprehensive matrix of autonomous applications: nine driverless buses have operated for 80,000 kilometers, serving 45,000 passengers; three robotaxis have covered 25,000 km, serving 18,000 riders; five unmanned sweepers have cleaned 645,000 square meters; and 15 delivery robots have completed 450,000 orders.

The world's first end-to-end KargoBot autonomous convoy solution has achieved an 80 percent reduction in labor costs related to trunk logistics. Meanwhile, 302 smart heavy trucks have completed 18.3 million km in tests.

Kangbashi has also launched the Inner Mongolia ICV Test Recognition Alliance and opened a dedicated smart freight corridor between Ordos Wanli Land Port and Baotou Hexi Port. Plans are underway to build a "Smart Freight Corridor" along the G6/G7 highways, establishing a cross-regional, intelligent logistics network.
