As of July 2, Ordos has launched or resumed construction on 428 major projects in 2025, allocating 95.62 billion yuan ($13.32 billion) in investment – accounting for 53.3 percent of the annual target.
This summer, construction sites across Ordos are bustling with energy. Amid intense heat, workers push ahead with determination, driving projects forward and painting a vivid picture of development in action.
At the construction site of China Coal's 2×660 MW coal-electricity integration project in Uxin Banner, work is progressing rapidly. The underground structures are largely completed, 65 meters of the 210-meter chimney have been completed, and 70 percent of the 225-meter cooling tower has been installed. Construction on supporting facilities will begin once conditions allow.
With a total investment of 5.76 billion yuan, the project is scheduled for completion by 2027.
Once operational, it is expected to generate 5.94 billion kWh of electricity annually and convert 3.3 million metric tons of low-grade coal each year, supporting a local circular industrial chain of coal, power, chemicals, and new energy.
