In Ordos' Ejin Horoo Banner, work on a combined heat and power (CHP) project with a total investment of 2.16 billion yuan ($301.26 million) – is progressing rapidly. As of early August, it is 86 percent complete.
The project features four 100MW back-pressure units and is on track to begin heating operations by the end of September.
"At present, civil construction is 88 percent complete and equipment installation is 84 percent complete. We are firmly committed to finishing before the deadline,” said project manager Liu Kaijun.
Using internationally advanced back-pressure turbine technology, the project enables energy cascade utilization with an overall thermal efficiency exceeding 80 percent – 30 percent higher than traditional methods. It is expected to reduce emissions by an amount equivalent to planting one million trees annually.
The project includes a smart heating platform and an ultra-low emission system, with pollutant concentrations that are just one-third of national standards, supporting the goal of 100 percent clean heating. It will also connect with the Yikang heating network to establish a resilient heat source system between Ejin Horoo Banner and Kangbashi district.
Once operational, the project will provide clean heating for 28 million square meters in Aletengxire town and the Mengsu Economic Development Zone.
