Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region announced plans to develop a national green computing hub and become a pioneer in digital transformation at the CCF HPC China 2025 on Aug 14.

Ordos will explore new models of "green power + intelligent computing" by utilizing zero-carbon and low-carbon industrial parks. It aims to create a benchmark for combining green electricity with high-performance, intelligent, and AI-driven computing.

The city is fostering upstream equipment manufacturing, expanding midstream high-end computing capacity, and developing downstream services in computing power and big data.

Through its "AI+" initiative, Ordos is implementing digital-intelligence upgrades in energy, mining, manufacturing, transportation, and governance, while building a new "national energy brain" to power smart industries.

As part of China's "channeling computing resources from the east to the west" strategy, the city is nurturing new growth in the digital economy. It has developed two major hubs – the Ordos High-Tech Zone Cloud Computing Industrial Park and the Ordos Airport Big Data Center – achieving a total computing power of 5,000P. It has also been included as part of Inner Mongolia's computing hub and the Horinger Data Center cluster.

In addition, Ordos is developing China's first industrial internet platform centered on large AI models and "Mine Harmony" technology, has been approved as a pilot city for vehicle-road-cloud integration in intelligent connected vehicles, and is developing the "Energy Innovation Valley" to promote the integration of industry, urban development, education, and scientific innovation.
