A bumper harvest of 4,500 metric tons of freshly harvested potatoes from Yiquan Agricultural Technology Co in Otog Banner, Ordos city, were exported to Southeast Asia.
The shipments travelled by truck from Otog Banner to ports in East China's Shandong province, where they were loaded onto vessels bound for Southeast Asian markets. The transnational journey continued until Oct 5.
According to Jiao Ling, head of Yiquan Agricultural Technology Co, all soil, water, and potato samples undergo third-party testing before harvest to ensure they meet food-grade, pollution-free standards.
After harvesting, the 5,000 mu (333.33 hectares) of fields are leveled and sown with wheat seeds – about 8 kilograms per mu – to protect the soil, prevent wind erosion, and enhance fertility for the next planting season.
Planted in Otog Banner since 2024, this is the second year the crop has thrived on local soil. Thanks to abundant sunshine and rainfall, each mu yields about 3,250 kg, with total production exceeding 16,000 tons.
From sustainable farming to international trade, Ordos potatoes are showcasing both quality and green development on the global stage.
