Ordos sees tourism boom during National Day holiday

During the 2025 National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays from Oct 1 to 8, Ordos received 2.85 million tourists, up 3.73 percent year on year, achieving a total tourism revenue of 2.02 billion yuan ($281.73 million), a 3.39 percent increase.

Across the city, different banners and districts launched tailored cultural and tourism initiatives that effectively boosted holiday consumption.

Juungar Banner held the "Golden Autumn Cultural Tourism Carnival", featuring concerts, drone shows, and traditional iron-flower displays, with nearly 50 bustling night-market stalls.

Ejin Horoo Banner hosted the "Beautiful Farm Amure Art Festival" and reading events, while Otog Front Banner issued 1 million yuan in consumption vouchers, directly leading to more than 2.62 million yuan in spending. Hanggin Banner utilized off-road racing events to boost local accommodation and dining consumption.

The "Warm City Intangible Cultural Heritage Carnival" stood out as a holiday highlight, bringing together 16 performance troupes from nine provinces and autonomous regions, showcasing three UNESCO-recognized and nine national-level intangible heritage items. From the Dong Grand Song from Guizhou to the Qilin Dance from Hebei, the carnival offered residents and visitors a vivid celebration of China's rich and diverse cultural heritage.
