Two research achievements from Ordos city, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, have been included in a series of national-level think tank reports released at the 12th China Modern Agricultural Development Forum and the 2025 Annual Meeting of China Association of Agricultural Science Societies in Hangzhou.
The recognized achievements are: "Coordinated Capacity-Enhancing Technology for Constructing Fertile Cultivated Layers in Saline-Alkali Land" and a new application scenario for "Water-Saving and Salt-Control Integrated Management in the Irrigated Saline-Alkali Zones along the Yellow River in Ordos."
They were jointly developed by the Ordos Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Ecology and Resource Protection Center and the National Center of Technology Innovation for Comprehensive Utilization of Saline-Alkali Land.
These achievements establish a tiered treatment system for saline-alkali land: a "three-effect coordinated model" for mildly affected areas, a "four-dimensional coupling model" for moderately affected areas, and a "five-in-one integrated model" for severely affected areas. Featuring strong core technologies and broad application prospects, the results are expected to significantly advance agricultural science and technology.
Field results indicate that soil salinity decreased by 20 percent to 40 percent, pH levels dropped by 0.2 to 0.3, seedling emergence in medium and heavy saline-alkali land exceeded 85 percent, and production capacity increased by 10 percent to 25 percent — delivering clear economic, social, and ecological benefits.
