The "Wei Jianxiong Innovation Studio" in Juungar Banner, Ordos city, was recently recognized as a 2025 National Model Worker Innovation Studio, the first of its kind in the city.

The studio is led by Wei Jianxiong, a national model worker and chief mechanical fitter at CHN Zhunneng Group. It focuses on tackling major technical challenges in large-scale open-pit mining equipment, including mechanical, hydraulic, and structural welding repairs.

Since its establishment, the studio has secured three invention patents and 22 utility model patents, published over 120 papers, won six provincial- or ministerial-level innovation awards, and generated more than 100 million yuan ($14.31 million) in economic benefits.

With a 650-square-meter training facility, it has conducted over 6,000 training sessions for more than 10,000 participants, cultivating 22 senior technicians, 196 technicians, and 265 skilled workers.
