An international charter flight from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Ordos, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, resumed on Sept 3, carrying 407 Malaysian tourists to Ordos and further boosting the city's inbound tourism market.
The flight's arrival was marked by a welcome ceremony at Ordos Ejin Horoo International Airport, where the visitors were greeted with Mongolian-style hospitality, including the presentation of hada (a traditional silk scarf) and traditional refreshments. The ceremony gave the tourists an early taste of local culture and customs.
To ensure smooth and efficient border clearance, the Ordos Entry-Exit Frontier Inspection Station coordinated with the airline and travel agencies in advance to prepare for the large group. The station promoted self-service terminals for foreign travelers' entry cards to reduce waiting times, while three newly installed biometric information collection devices were put into operation to further improve clearance efficiency and security.

Local travel agencies also tailored the itinerary to Malaysian visitors' travel preferences, dietary needs, and interests. The tour highlights Ordos' grasslands and deserts, and includes activities like donning traditional Mongolian attire, engaging in folk events, watching the spectacular live equestrian show Heroes, staying overnight in yurts, and sampling authentic Mongolian cuisine.
The Kuala Lumpur-Ordos international charter service will operate through Oct 22. The resumed direct air link is expected to strengthen tourism and cultural exchanges between Ordos and Malaysia, support broader cooperation, and further open the city to international visitors.
