(chinadaily.com.cn) | 2022-04-06

The world's largest Q-Flex type LNG ship from Qatar carrying a load of 205,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas berthed at the Dongjiakou Economic Zone in the Qingdao West Coast New Area (WCNA), East China's Shandong province on April 3.

The landing marks the first time that Shandong has received liquefied natural gas supplies from Qatar.

The natural gas in the ship can be used to supply more than 200,000 households for a single year, which can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 350,000 metric tons compared with coal.

Qatar is one of the world's largest LNG exporters. In March 2021, China Petrochemical Corp, also known as Sinopec, signed a 10-year agreement project with resource companies in Qatar. The amount of LNG will reach 2 million tons per year.

The Qingdao LNG Terminal, which is located in the WCNA, is Sinopec's first LNG terminal, and it is also the main gas station in North China that has ranked among the top three in China to supply natural gas for three consecutive years.
