Hisense industrial park a business card of Sino-African cooperation

The Hisense South Africa Appliance Industrial Park is an important investment and cooperation project of China in South Africa. Over the years, the park has driven local employment and improved the upstream and downstream industrial chain, and promoted the industrialization process of South Africa, local media reported.

The park has also been recognized by the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC) as a demonstration of successful cooperation between China and Africa.

In March 2013, Hisense Group and the China Africa Development Fund signed an investment cooperation agreement to support the construction of the Hisense South Africa Appliance Industrial Park.

Ten years on, products from the Hisense South Africa Appliance Industrial Park can be found in more than 8,000 stores in South Africa and have been exported to more than 10 African countries such as Zambia, Botswana, Namibia, Mauritius, Mozambique, as well as European countries such as the United Kingdom.

Hisense TVs and refrigerators are now commonly found in South Africa. In fact, the brand's televisions and refrigerators command the highest share in the South African market. As of June this year, Hisense TV had a sales share of 32.3 percent in the South African market, while Hisense refrigerators had a sales share of 30.8 percent.

The Hisense South Africa Appliance Industrial Park currently employs about 700 locals who make up more than 90 percent of the total workforce. The park has also created more than 4,000 indirect jobs.

In addition to providing career counseling programs for employees, Hisense also cooperates with local vocational and technical schools to provide internships and training opportunities for graduates to help students master electronic technology, software application and equipment operation skills.
