In order to enrich campus cultural life and enhance the quality of education for students, a primary school in Qingdao's Jimo district, Shandong has been promoting traditional Chinese opera in recent years by offering opera courses, establishing opera interest groups and clubs, and organizing opera performances.

The school has begun offering courses on Liuqiang Opera, which is listed as a national-level intangible cultural heritage item. Professional teachers are invited to teach students about opera, allowing them to experience intangible cultural heritage from a young age and promoting traditional arts.

Liuqiang Opera, also named Bangliu Opera, is a local Qingdao folk art. Originating in the mid-Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), it was developed from "Benzhougu" (a recitative folk art) and absorbed local folk tunes as well as yangko dance (a popular rural folk dance).
