Foreign guests attending the Second Council Meeting of the Alliance for Cultural Heritage in Asia, which was held in Qingdao, Shandong province on June 19 and 20, spoke highly of Qingdao's efforts and achievements in protecting its cultural heritage.

During the event, an exhibition was held featuring Qingdao's intangible cultural heritage experiences and cultural product displays. The exhibition showcased Qingdao's efforts and achievements in cultural heritage conservation to the attending representatives and provided them with a visual and auditory feast.

Tasting Laoshan tea, admiring the exquisite Jimo lace, experiencing the traditional art of paper-cutting, and trying their hands at Laixi puppetry, the participants showed great enthusiasm for Qingdao's intangible cultural heritage and actively engaged in interactive experiences.

Attendees also had a field visit to Qingdao's old and historical area. From Zhanqiao Pier to the century-old Zhongshan Road, they experienced up close the various practices of Qingdao's ongoing efforts in cultural heritage protection, savoring the city's blend of tradition and modernity.

"The architecture is very beautiful and grand. Qingdao has done a lot of work in the restoration, preservation, and protection of its buildings, which is evident. Additionally, activities like markets have been set up to drive the economy, allowing these ancient buildings to not only exist but also thrive. Here, you can see many visitors; it's very lively. Although these are old buildings, many people come and go, blending into daily life," shared Gloria Annarella Velez Osejo, Honduran minister of culture, arts and heritage.

"Qingdao is very beautiful. Different historical periods have different styles, and all are well preserved. The work Qingdao has done in cultural protection and development is commendable. I hope Qingdao continues to develop for the better," she added.
