Shandong Port Group launches major projects for world-class port cluster in Qingdao
On Feb 15, Shandong Port Group marked a significant milestone with the completion of key projects for its 2025 World-Class Port Cluster initiative in Qingdao. The event, held at Wharf 1 in the Dagang Port area, also saw the official launch of several new projects raising Qingdao's status as a global maritime hub.
Ren Gang, deputy Party secretary of the Qingdao Municipal Committee and mayor of Qingdao, highlighted the group's role in China's transportation and logistics sectors. Shandong Port Group has always focused on integrating the province's ports, with Qingdao Port as the core, boosting its competitiveness and capabilities.
Ren stated, ''The successful completion of these projects, along with new initiatives, will provide critical support in strengthening Qingdao Port as a key maritime hub. We will continue to collaborate with Shandong Port Group to accelerate the development of the Qingdao International Shipping Center and create a world-class port cluster.''
Shandong Port Group has 29 major projects in Qingdao, which covers projects completed in 2024, ongoing developments, and those set to begin in 2025. The total investment for these projects amounts to approximately 93.4 billion yuan ($13.2 billion). This includes 11 projects to be completed in 2024, with an investment of 10.18 billion yuan, three ongoing projects valued at 6.22 billion yuan, and 15 new projects planned for 2025, totaling 77 billion yuan.
Qingdao remains committed to supporting Shandong Port Group in its efforts to build a world-class maritime port and strengthen its global leadership.
