The 2025 Qingdao Turnip, Yuanxiao and Tangqiu Fair, Qingdao's top Spring Festival event which included traditional festivities, delicious treats, and a display of national trends, came to an end on Feb 13.
The annual cultural event helped to boost domestic demand and promote consumption. According to official data, the various venues attracted over 10 million visitors and generated sales exceeding 500 million yuan ($68.67 million).
This year's festival featured 49 thematic activities and over 200 community folk cultural events, spreading festive cheer across the city.
The Dabaodao tourism and leisure block, one of the main venues of this year's festival, planned Chaoshan Yingge dance performances, intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, and cultural experience activities, breathing new life into traditional festivals.
An intangible cultural heritage hand-made appreciation event was also launched on the opening day, during which hand-made products and from nine provinces and regions along the Yellow River as well as local specialties were showcased and sold. A diverse array of artistic and cultural performances were also held, awhile many culinary delights were on offer.
Breaking away from the traditional elements of radishes, lanterns, and Tangqiu, or tanghulu, this year's event saw some innovative additions. At the opening ceremony, robots danced to the music, while a robotic dog dressed as a lion dancer took to the stage, delighting onlookers with a lively lion dance performance.
The creative lantern exhibition and fun photo spots at the Dabaodao tourism and leisure block added an extra touch of liveliness to the neighborhood. Popular bands, DJ performances, rap and electronic music, K-pop parties, and more entertained the crowds at various venues, allowing more young people to experience a "Generation Z" celebration at the fair.
