Peach blossom festival springs to life in Tai'an

The 15th Feicheng Peach Blossom Festival kicked off on April 6 and will end on April 20 in Feicheng, Tai'an, according to 1545ts.com.

The 15-day grand event includes over 20 activities, such as a photography competition, a painting and calligraphy exhibition, a peach wood product design competition, and an economic cooperation forum.

After 14 years of development, the Feicheng Peach Blossom Festival is among the four most influential such festivals in China.

It serves as a good platform for tourism, cultural exchanges, commodity promotion, and peach wood product design competition, and has brought remarkable economic and social benefits to Feicheng.

Feicheng is famous for peaches, with an annual productivity of 10 billion kilograms. Its history of peach growing goes back more than 1,700 years.

Noted for their beautiful appearance, good taste and rich nutrition at home and abroad, Feicheng peaches are hailed as "the champions of peaches".

In 2001 and 2002, Feicheng peaches were rated as a brand-name product at the China International Agricultural Fair.

As of 2010, the total area of peach trees had reached 66,666 hectares, now a listing in the Guinness Book of World Records.

In addition, Feicheng has developed more than 4,000 peach wood products relying on its rich natural resources. Overall, the industry is worth around 1.2 billion yuan ($185.52 million) per year.
