Ancient Rome exhibition gets underway in Shandong

An exhibition entitled "The Eternal City – Splendour of Ancient Rome", is taking place at the Shandong Museum, with some 233 cultural relics being displayed.

Rome, located in the central-western portion of the Italian Peninsula, is known as the "Eternal City". The city has witnessed all kinds of historical events since its founding in 753 BC. Ancient ruins in Rome include the Arch of Constantine, the Pantheon and the Colosseum, along with other famous monuments.

The city is also home to many fine examples of Renaissance architecture and art.

The exhibition is the first Roman exhibition to be staged in Shandong province.

With some 233 artifacts from the Colosseum, the Domus Aurea, the National Museum of Rome and the Archaeological Museum of Florence, visitors can experience the splendor of ancient Rome without leaving Shandong.

Exhibition Date: July 25 to Oct 8.

Exhibition Venue: No 4 Hall on the first floor of Shandong Museum.
