Li Qingwu, a fifth-generation inheritor of Mount Tai sugar painting created a great sensation for kids at Qili Primary School in Tai'an, Shandong province during his visit to the school on Oct 24.

Li enchanted the students by showing off the sweet art – producing artistic pieces entirely composed of liquid sugar in shapes of animals and other patterns.

He also enlightened the kids on the origin and development of the art form with vivid stories.

"I hope that the old technique of sugar painting can be protected and inherited. And hopefully through my efforts, the younger generation can develop interest in our traditional culture," said Li.
