The Mount Tai Music Festival above the Clouds was held at the Tianyi Lake Tourist Resort Area of Tai'an, Shandong province on April 30 and May 1.

This was the first-ever music festival sponsored by NetEase Cloud Music, one of China's major music live streaming services, which was watched by nearly 10 million people in real time.

Famous singers and musical groups including Xie Chunhua, Liu Haolin, Zhao Ke, Xu Binglong, Cats of Landlord and Xu Mengyuan as well as representative electronic musicians, Gui Bian and G.G (Zhang Siyuan), hip-pop singers, and DJ Liz successively appeared on stage in the two-day music festival.

What's more, Zhao Zhao, popular Chinese independent musician and folk rocker, and Cui Jian, godfather of Chinese rock' n' roll, were also present.

Themed on independence, the festival provided the audience a chance to release themselves and free their souls in the music. Folk songs, pop music, electronic music and hip-hop allowed visitors to jump, cheer and scream without restraint.

"I am a junior this year and have great pressure of looking for work. It's really great and awesome to sing to my heart's content and to free myself on the open and beautiful beach accompanied by nice songs," said a fan at the music festival.

A practitioner of the "tourism + music" model, Mount Tai Scenic Area Management Committee has successfully hosted many music festivals since 2010, including the 2018 Mount Tai Music Festival above the Clouds, as Tianyi Lake Tourist Resort Area develops its tourism and enhances its influence.

The Tianyi Lake Tourist Resort Area received a total of 96,600 tourists during the three-day May Day holiday from April 29 to May 1, an increase of 27.94 percent compared with the same period last year.
