The Jinan-Tai'an expressway, with an estimated investment of 5.54 billion yuan ($826.8 million), is expected to open to traffic by 2020, local media reported.

The Jinan section of Jinan-Tai'an expressway is 24.36 kilometers long and has a designed driving speed of 120 kilometers per hour. The overall length of Jinan-Tai'an expressway is 55.9 kilometers and cars will be able to travel the distance of the expressway in 28 minutes.

The expressway will cross three sub-districts and 23 villages and also pass through a series of famous scenic spots in Jinan and Tai'an, such as Red Leaves Canyon.
