Tai'an in Shandong province was included in the second batch of cities to pilot the construction of 15-minute convenient living circles, which was recently released by 10 departments including the Shandong Provincial Department of Commerce.

Tai'an combines government assistance with markets, builds service stations, completes commercial facilities in the neighborhoods, and gives priority to forming enterprises for basic life guarantees throughout the 15-minute convenient living circle development.

For example, Tai'an plans to establish daily life related businesses, such as convenience stores, supermarkets, farmers' markets, fresh food markets, breakfast stores and hair salons into the communities, and develop characteristic businesses, such as specialty catering, fitness centers, and educational institutions to meet residents' diverse needs and improve the quality of life in the areas.

In addition, Tai'an will strengthen quality control of commodities to ensure residents to have a satisfactory shopping experience.

"In our community, the supermarkets, grocery stores, fruit shops and hair salons are within a short distance and the educational and entertainment venues are also within the 15-minute living circles to provide residents with satisfactory and convenient quality facilities," said Peng Fengjun, director of Lijing community on Daimiao Street in Taishan district.
