Seventeen tourists from Malaysia started their two-day trip in Tai'an, Shandong province on April 24, marking the first foreign tour group since Tai'an held a weekly overseas travel agent promotion event in March.

A welcoming ceremony was set up for the overseas tourists, during which each of them received a present made of peach wood.

After the welcoming ceremony, tourists started their trip in Tai'an from Dai Temple, an ancient building with a rich history.

"It is my first time to visit Tai'an, a city that boasts a clean environment and beautiful scenery, and the food suits my palate," said one of the Malaysian tourists.

The group will also visit other cities like Yantai and Qingdao in Shandong province during their eight-day tour.

According to officials from the municipal bureau of culture and tourism, Tai'an will continue to promote inbound tourism to attract more overseas tourists and to boost the recovery of inbound tourism.
