Cherry Festival sweetens up Cuwen Scenic Area

The first China Mount Tai Cherry Festival kicked off in Tianbao town of Cuwen Scenic Area in Tai'an, Shandong province on May 13.

The festival has scheduled various events, including a specialty exhibition, an e-commerce livestreaming day, a photography exhibition, and a painting and calligraphy exchange, which will take place for two weeks to showcase good products and stunning landscapes of the scenic area.

The area boasts a magnificent landscape, prosperous history and abundant natural products and it has established a cherry planting base, which covers 45.33 square kilometers and is centered around Culai Mountain. The planting base yields 30,000 metric tons of cherries every year.

Tianbao town is where Chinese cherries originated and enjoys a cherry planting history of over 1,000 years. The cherries grown in the town are renowned for their large size, thin skin, sweetness, and rich nutritional value.

To date, Tianbao town has cultivated over 33.33 sq km of cherries, yielding 20,000 tons of cherries annually. The town has become the core area of the cherry base in Cuwen Scenic Area, attracting 200,000 visitors to purchase cherries during the harvest season.
