Tai'an's ICH items highlight exhibition week

Three intangible cultural heritage (ICH) items from Tai'an were showcased at an exchange and exhibition week of ICH items in the Yellow River Basin and along the Grand Canal which was held in Weifang, Shandong province.

The three ICH items include Taishan Shadow Puppetry, which is a national-level ICH item, the provincial-level Yu's Hongye qipao making technique, and a municipal-level tea ceremony called "Na Yi Ye".

Fan Zheng'an, an inheritor of Taishan Shadow Puppetry, created a special performance for the event and performed a show which combined the local dialect with folklore. The Taishan Shadow Puppetry attracted applause from the audience and left the foreign visitors in awe.

The on-site demonstration of Yu's Hongye qipao making technique showcased the exquisite embroidery buttons. Many visitors also got the chance to place orders for customized qipaos.

The tea ceremony attracted visitors with the art of tea making.

The exchange and exhibition week was guided by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's department of intangible cultural heritage and organized by the Shandong's provincial department of culture and tourism and the municipal government of Weifang.

The event is held biennially. The first edition in 2021 was held in Tai'an.
