Xi calls for advancing Chinese modernization
Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, has called on senior Party officials to diligently perform their duties as they strive to take on new responsibilities and initiate fresh actions to advance Chinese modernization.
Xi made the remarks after he reviewed the annual work reports of senior Party officials, which were recently submitted to the CPC Central Committee and to the general secretary.
He called on the senior officials to overcome difficulties in the face of the country's arduous tasks in advancing reform and development while maintaining stability.
Noting that this year marks an important year for further deepening all-around reform, Xi called for efforts to achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) in its final year with high quality, in order to lay solid foundations for a good start to the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period.
Senior Party officials should strengthen their political ability, calmly respond to any challenges brought about by the changing environment at home and abroad, and adhere to the general principle of pursuing progress while ensuring stability, Xi said.
He called for efforts to make solid gains in pursuing high-quality development, further deepen reform across the board, expand high-standard opening-up and promote sustained economic recovery and growth.
Xi also underlined the importance of senior officials resolutely implementing major policies and decisions made by the CPC Central Committee.
The officials who submitted their work reports included members of the Political Bureau and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
Members of the leading Party members groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the State Council and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, as well as secretaries of the leading Party members groups of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate also submitted their work reports.
