Pudong-Santiago cargo route cuts China-Chile transit to under 24 hours
Shanghai Pudong International Airport launched a direct cargo service to Santiago on Nov 18, with China Southern Airlines' CZ2582 completing the inaugural round-trip, currently the longest freighter route from Chinese mainland, shortening China-Chile transit to under 24 hours.

The route is operated by a Boeing B777F with a weekly capacity of nearly 500 metric tons and runs Santiago — Los Angeles — Shanghai, making it the longest direct freighter link from China and supporting more efficient trade between China and Chile.
Shanghai Customs, the Civil Aviation Administration of China and airport authorities supported the new service, which links the two hubs with an integrated air-and-distribution logistics model covering warehousing, regional delivery and supply-chain finance.
China remains the largest export market for Chilean cherries, taking over 90 percent of shipments, with 2025-26 exports expected to reach 131 million boxes. Officials said the new route will lower barriers for local exporters, expand value-added logistics services and strengthen bilateral trade and cooperation.
