Recently, a rose-shaped huamo, or decorated steamed bun, has become popular with customers at a restaurant in Taiyuan, Shanxi province.

The pink roses made of flour, which are roasted, emit a charming aroma. The petals are layered and shine with attractive luster thanks to oil and honey.

"Huamo has a long history in Shanxi and has become the most important symbol for locals during festivals and folk activities, as well as entertaining guests," said An Peng, manager of the restaurant. "I hope more visitors come to Shanxi to enjoy the delicious cooked wheat food."
