North China's Shanxi province issued management measures for subsidy funds for projects to strengthen medical services on June 17, planning to provide strong financial support for comprehensively enhancing the quality of medical services in the province.

The medical strengthening project funds are subsidy funds allocated through multiple channels, including infrastructure funds within the central and provincial budgets, public budget funds at all levels, bond funds, and hospital revenues.

Shanxi will use the funds to establish six projects, including national regional medical centers, a national clinical key specialty construction project, a provincial clinical key specialty construction project, and a provincial medical key discipline construction project.

Meanwhile, the province will comprehensively enhance the tertiary medical service capabilities of its county-level hospitals. Within three years, at least 37 county-level comprehensive hospitals, 10 county-level traditional Chinese medicine hospitals, and three county-level maternal and child health hospitals will have tertiary hospital medical service capabilities. During this period, every county that gets one of its medical institutions to meet the standards will receive a subsidy of 10 million yuan ($1.38 million).

In terms of the construction of township health centers, the province will focus on improving basic diagnosis, treatment and emergency services, especially in agricultural counties. Within three years, Shanxi will support the construction of at least 91 central health centers, with each center receiving a subsidy of 1 million yuan.
