Shanxi foreign trade sees 5.9 % increase from Jan-Oct
According to Taiyuan Customs, Shanxi province's total foreign trade value in the first 10 months of this year reached 145.53 billion yuan ($20.12 billion), a 5.9-percent increase from the previous year.
The growth rate surpassed the national average by 0.7 percentage points. Exports totaled 89.49 billion yuan, up 4.5 percent, while imports were 56.04 billion yuan, up 8.3 percent.
Major imports included metal ores, soybeans, pulp, and cosmetics. Key export goods included solar panels, electrical equipment, coal, textiles, and agricultural products. Electrical equipment exports reached 2.18 billion yuan, up 56.2 percent, and agricultural product exports totaled 1.49 billion yuan, up 43 percent. Solar panels, coal, and textiles exports were 2.16 billion yuan, 780 million yuan, and 760 million yuan, respectively, with growth rates of 223.4 percent, 118.6 percent, and 76.8 percent.
Emerging industries saw significant growth, with exports of lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicles, and solar panels reaching 2.75 billion yuan, up 182.9 percent, and exports of high-end equipment by key industry chain enterprises totaling 1.27 billion yuan, up 30.2 percent. These exports injected new momentum into foreign trade development.
