11 Shanxi districts make top 100 Central China districts list
The Competitiveness Think Tank, Beijing Zhongxin Urban Planning and Design Institute, and other institutions recently released the "China County Development Monitoring Report 2024".
According to the report, 11 districts from North China's Shanxi province have been listed among the "2024 Top 100 Central China Districts for Comprehensive Competitiveness". Taiyuan leads the province, with four districts making the list.
The report established a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system covering economic strength, technological innovation, green development, public welfare, and county governance. Using publicly available data from 2023, it compared and verified the performance of various counties.
The "2024 Top 100 Districts for Comprehensive Competitiveness in China" and the "2024 Top 100 Central China Districts for Comprehensive Competitiveness" were subsequently published.
The 11 districts from Shanxi that made the list are Xiaodian, Yingze, Xinghualing, and Wanbailin in Taiyuan; Luzhou in Changzhi; Yaodu in Linfen; Pinglu in Shuozhou; Yungang in Datong; Shangdang in Changzhi; Lishi in Lyuliang; and Jincheng's urban area.
Data shows that the average GDP of the top 100 Central China districts is 78.93 billion yuan ($10.88 billion), with an average growth rate of 5.1 percent. The average GDP per capita is 111,200 yuan, 1.2 times the national average.
