Over the past year, North China's Shanxi province had been committed to enhancing traditional industries while expanding emerging sectors, constructing a modern industrial system that showcases Shanxi's unique strengths.
By fostering innovation, building platforms, and optimizing ecosystems, Shanxi has strengthened its base of innovative enterprises and laid a solid foundation for this system.
Currently, Shanxi boasts 4,356 innovative small and medium-sized enterprises and 2,903 provincial-level specialized, refined, and innovative enterprises. The province has also nurtured 35 national enterprise technology centers and 511 provincial enterprise technology centers.
It continues to drive the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries, guiding and supporting companies to invest in technological upgrades and equipment. Many enterprises are exploring new fields and unleashing new momentum through digital empowerment and green transformation.
The province has built 244 intelligent coal mines and 1,594 intelligent mining faces, with intelligent coal mine capacity accounting for 60.48 percent of the total. This has led to advanced coal production capacity exceeding 83 percent, significantly reducing labor, enhancing safety, and improving efficiency.
Shanxi is also actively aligning with emerging industries. In the past three years, the Shanxi Transformation and Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone has focused on four emerging sectors: high-end equipment manufacturing, new energy, new materials, and advanced semiconductors. It has introduced 121 new strategic industry projects with a total investment of 131.7 billion yuan ($17.98 billion).
Shanxi will continue to promote innovation-driven development, upgrade traditional industries, and cultivate emerging industries further to map out a new landscape of modern industrial development.
