Over the past year, North China's Shanxi province has accelerated its transition to a green and low-carbon development model, engaged in pollution control, and enhanced its ecosystems' diversity, stability, and sustainability. These efforts have led to significant progress in building a beautiful Shanxi.

Shanxi's governments and departments at all levels have been actively exploring and applying new technologies and processes to contribute to the sustainable development of traditional industries. In carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, the province has vigorously promoted carbon emission control in key sectors, strengthened emission controls in the industrial sector, and fostered a green and low-carbon transition in production and lifestyles.

Since last year, Shanxi has coordinated efforts to manage rural household waste and sewage, with the rural household sewage treatment rate reaching 30.7 percent. The province has also established a comprehensive waste collection and disposal system covering over 96 percent of villages.

The province has strengthened the coordinated management of water resources, ecology, and environments and implemented major biodiversity protection projects. These projects have effectively promoted the reproduction and survival of wildlife, further improving the ecological environment.

The province will continue to drive the green and low-carbon transformation of its industrial structure, enhance the joint protection and governance of intercity and urban-rural ecological environments, and support high-quality development alongside the ecological environment to achieve modernization featuring harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
