"I am a grassroots People's Congress deputy and also a farmer. My mission is to bring the most authentic voices of farmers to the Shanxi Provincial Two Sessions and introduce advanced agricultural concepts and technologies to the fields," said Wang Liangxiong, Party secretary of Jiuyuanping village in Weijiatan town, Xingxian county.

Wang constantly moves at the grassroots level in rural areas, listening to the people, understanding their situations, gathering their wisdom, and addressing their concerns.

"With 96 mu (6.4 hectares) of idle land resources in Jiuyuanping, how to efficiently utilize this land to develop agriculture with distinctive local characteristics and substantially increase the economic benefits of villagers is a matter of concern for everyone."

After being elected as a deputy to the 14th Shanxi Provincial People's Congress, Wang, based on research findings, keenly recognized that Xingxian county, known as the "County of Chinese Coarse Grains and Coarse Grain Cuisine", has vast market demands.

Jiuyuanping village has a unique advantage in coarse grain cultivation. After scientific assessments and thorough discussions with the village committee and representatives, small coarse grain crops such as millet, sorghum, and mung beans were introduced for large-scale cultivation.

Today, the idle land in the village has been transformed into coarse grain fields, which bring farmers a stable income of over 20,000 yuan ($2,727.98) per year. Tangible benefits have fattened the pockets of the villagers, and their smiles are becoming brighter.

With the Shanxi Provincial Two Sessions approaching this year, Wang's primary focus remains on rural vitalization: "I will submit motions related to rural tourism development and contribute my efforts to the comprehensive vitalization of rural areas."
