Shanxi to forge ahead with high-quality transportation in 2025
Updated: 2025-01-10
In 2024, the transportation system in North China's Shanxi province implemented multiple measures to promote high-quality development, providing strong support for its continued economic recovery. In 2025, Shanxi aims to advance high-quality transportation development further.
In 2024, Shanxi achieved its goal of "expressways connecting every county" one year ahead of schedule. The expressways, which have a total length of 6,446 kilometers, now connect all 117 counties in Shanxi. Additionally, Shanxi became the first province in the country to establish a province-wide tourism road network.
Shanxi will continue to enhance the routine maintenance of expressways and regular national and provincial roads in 2025, aiming for an effective repair rate of over 80 percent for road surface damages. Comprehensive centralized maintenance will also ensure that over 88 percent of expressways are in top condition.
After completing the three major tourism highways, Shanxi will focus on follow-up work and launch a three-year action plan to improve their quality and efficiency and enhance their overall benefits.
The province will prioritize improving comprehensive tourism facilities along the tourism highways, adding 97 new service stations, 21 RV campsites, 131 viewing platforms, 1,100 5G base stations, 339 charging piles, and 23,000 distinctive signs and markers within the year. It will also integrate cultural tourism, agriculture, commerce, sports, and health industries along the highways.
This year, Shanxi will fully launch low-altitude airspace management reforms and begin constructing a provincial low-altitude traffic management platform, significantly contributing to the development of Shanxi as a demonstration province for general aviation and the low-altitude economy.
