A total of 11 premium ice and snow tourism routes and over 1,100 winter activities were launched at the winter tourism product exchange and route release event hosted by the Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism in Xinzhou and Shuozhou from Jan 13 to 15.

The initiative aims to enhance the development and operation of winter tourism attractions across Shanxi province, enrich Shanxi's ice and snow tourism offerings, and promote the ice and snow economy as a new growth driver.

The 11 new ice and snow tourism routes connect various top-tier historical buildings, resort areas, ski resorts, key scenic spots, and unique themed activities. Visitors can immerse themselves in the distinctive winter beauty of Shanxi and appreciate the charm of traditional culture amid ice and snow.

In 2025, Shanxi's ice and snow tourism activities will revolve around five themes: gourmet tasting, festival experiences, lantern exhibitions, New Year shopping, and folk performances. These will include over 1,100 activities featuring food, hot springs, sports, lantern shows, and folk performances.

At the event, culture and tourism departments from various cities also introduced their local winter tourism attractions and featured activities, recommending new ways to explore Shanxi in the colder months.

This year, Shanxi will also plan an enhancement initiative for the development of its ice and snow tourism, focusing on ice and snow tourism products, brands, and services. These efforts aim to stimulate consumer interest and drive the growth of the entire winter tourism industry chain.
