Dong Xiaolin, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Shanxi Province, met with the Cuban Ambassador to China, Alberto Blanco, on Feb 6 in Changzhi during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Sino-Cuban joint venture project – Anbotech Pharmaceutical's innovative drug research and industrialization project.

Dong briefed Ambassador Blanco on Shanxi's economic and social development status, industrial advantages, and proactive opening-up measures. He emphasized that this Sino-Cuban joint venture project signifies an important achievement in deepening cooperation in the biopharmaceutical field and expressed hope for enhancing friendly cooperation between Shanxi and Cuba in economy and trade, culture and tourism, and sister city establishment.

Blanco highlighted Cuba's deep-rooted friendship with China and noted significant achievements in cooperation, particularly in the biotechnology and energy sectors. The Anbotech Pharmaceutical's innovative drug research and industrialization project is of significant importance to Cuba and Shanxi, and Cuba has pledged full support for its development.

A key construction project in Shanxi, the Anbotech Pharmaceutical project is divided into two phases. It will become a comprehensive research and industrialization base for innovative pharmaceutical products, focusing on innovative biopharmaceuticals, chemical drugs, traditional Chinese medicine, and new pharmaceutical preparations.
