Snowboarder Jiang Xinjie from North China's Shanxi province clinched the fourth spot in the men's snowboard slopestyle event at the 9th Asian Winter Games on Feb 8. Next, he will compete in the men's snowboard big air competition on Feb 10.

Many participants were affected by windy conditions during the qualifiers. Jiang secured a spot in the finals with a strong performance in the second round, earning 77.25 points and ranking third.

During his first run in the finals, Jiang started with his left foot. He showcased a series of creative and high-quality maneuvers, including aerial spins and a backflip 720 in the feature area, scoring 70.50 points and temporarily placing second.

However, in the second round of the competition, Jiang faced challenges due to the windy conditions and made a mistake during his run.

In the final showdown, Jiang executed flips in the air but landed with a lower impact, touching the snow and ultimately securing the fourth position.

Despite unfavorable weather conditions, the more experienced South Korean athlete Chaeun Lee completed a risky 1440 maneuver in his final run, earning the highest score of 90 points in the competition and clinching the gold medal.

In his debut at the Asian Winter Games, Jiang impressed spectators with his vitality and creative moves on the slopes. Anticipation for his performance in the men's snowboard big air competition on Feb 10 is high.
